4D/3N Backpacking Krabi : BBQ Dinner & Sky Lantern Lighting

When in Krabi, Thailand, one must not miss the opportunity to indulge in the abundant seafood the Andaman Sea has to offer, and what better way to enjoy it than to have a barbecue! That is exactly what my sister and I had after spending our entire evening kayaking through the majestic limestone karsts and cliffs of Ao Thalane, Krabi. You can read it here - Sunset Kayaking @ Phranang Full Moon Kayaking at Ao Thalane, Krabi (Part 3). As you know, kayaking is an activity that burns a lot of calories therefore, by the time we finished our kayaking expedition late in the evening, we were exhausted and required sustenance to replenish our lost energy.

From the jetty, we were brought to an open air restaurant located by the sea and was treated to a scrumptious barbecue dinner. However, it was not the barbecue dinner that I had in mind, it was better! Instead of enslaving ourselves by the hot fire to cook our food, to our delight, our food came prepared and was served to us on the table, ready for consumption. On the menu was grilled fish, prawns, corn on the cob, kebab, chicken, garden salad, and a variety of fresh local fruits, biscuits and other sweet sour treats. Bottles of chilled mineral water, carbonated drinks and even beer especially for us were served too. We were left speechless by the amount of food laid before us. The expression on our faces was priceless.

We took our sweet time to devour our glorious food as we enjoyed the gentle sea breeze and soothing sound of the crashing waves and twinkling music of the wind chimes in the background. For your info, the food was really good, it was delicious! The people at the restaurant were warm and friendly too. What a wonderful night it was; one of our best moments in Krabi, Thailand. After that, our beaming happiness was continued with a memorable sky lantern lighting session to end a wonderful evening and pleasant night we had in Krabi, Thailand.

After saying thank you and good bye to our new found friends at the restaurant, it was another fun ride on the back of the truck, to an open area by the roadside somewhere I do not know. We got off the truck and got our sky lanterns ready. My sister and I took turns to light up, make a wish and release our sky lanterns into the sky. It was our very first sky lantern lighting experience and we were very excited and happy to have done it in beautiful Krabi, Thailand. Do watch the video on the entire process below. My wish now is to attend the prestigious Yeepeng Lanna International event happening in Chiang Mai, Thailand every year in November. May I have my wish fulfilled in the near future.

On our way back to our hostel in Aonang, Krabi, we dropped by the office of Phranang Full Moon Kayaking, met Maria in person and took more photos. Many happy and memorable memories were made on that single day/night – one that will last for a lifetime.
